I am all about layers and oversized clothing. I live in leg warmers and colorful tights from late summer through early summer. I love seeing my legs in several layers of colors and textures and it kicks excitement into the cold days. For some time now, I have been on a mission to make good leg warmers for Mawusi. Last year I made the Gogomi (see below), and it didn't come out right. When at markets my customers kept thinking they were hand muffs I knew I had to come up with leg warmers which actually looked their part. I designed and crocheted several leg warmers but remained unsatisfied. I started thinking that knitting might contain the answer.
I had been lazily trying to learn to knit, and when I discovered loom knitting I sort of gave up. The need to make a pair of wonderful leg warmers that will be awesome to rock in the cold days forced me to sit down and learn to knit once and for all. I wish you could have seen my face when I finished this pair of Delali Leg Warmers. Imagine not knowing how to do something at one moment and wanting so badly to know how, then finally being able to learn the skills which were once complex and incomprehensible. Only to create something you have wished to for so long. I can't explain the feeling, but confidence, sheer happiness, and awe come to mind. (Oh and party mode...hands in the air Yeah-ahhhhhh)
So yes, the Delali Leg Warmers mean a lot to me. They are also beautifully hand knitted with a soft natural wool yarn, and available in six great colors that your legs will love to kick in. Should make an amazing gift, too!
